How many prank phonecalls total do you think EMS workers get on a daily basis, a lot! (I'm too lazy to look it up). My point is though what would you do if you're an EMS worker and you get a few calls about zombies, maybe after a little bit you'll send a patrol car to check it out and, while I don't know about your area, it took a HALF HOUR for a patrol car to check out a robbery in progress in my neighborhood, by then the guy had cleaned out the cash register of the candy store, taken all the candy he wanted, and hopped in his car and drove away going below the speed limit.

If it takes a half hour of zombies pounding on your door for one cop to get there and distract the zombies for a bit before being killed or running away because he tried to taze and then nonlethally shoot the undead because cops aren't trained to be murder machines and dosen't know to aim for the head. Even if he figures out to aim for the head he probably dosen't carry enough ammo to shoot down a horde.

Now think how many people are being killed, infected, rioting, and shooting zombies while the cops are waiting for military support and trying to figure out just what possesed the residents of Muldraguh to eat and shoot each other. Now the military is here and trying to nonlethally neutralized the bloody populace of Knox County and even if some competent survivors who aren't affected by the tear gas are trying to tell the police to shoot them in the head while they are shooting the zombies in the head the police/military forces are going to shoot the crazy man murdering the rioters. Now somewhere the riot shield line is broken and zombies are pouring in biting the military/police and now they decide that they should open fire, too late.

Now police and soldiers are scared because they are seeing their buddies getting up and joining the ranks of the undead. They shoot anyone with a cut or bruise or who maybe suprised them and are all the while falling back as they are shooting these freaks of nature in the head and are losing more men every second, they finally reach the roadblock and manage to reestablish a line there even though a few are definately bitten and are being hauled off to hospitals outside of the combat area. These men are put in hospital beds and kept there.

They die after a few hours and are promtly put in a body bag and put out on the lawn with the rest of the body bags that are beginning to pile up. Someone notices one of the body bags is moving and quickly opens the bag to be bitten by the ghoul inside. Rinse, recycle, repeat. Now the infection is nationwide and world leaders are trying to figure out what in the hell is going on in the USA, all the while bitten or zombified are being flown or smuggled away from the combat zone to a brand new feast across the ocean.

If you are suggesting the Zombie disease, ZD, was subjected forcefully, IE virus or toxins, then this could, perhaps, cause enough danger to jeopardize initial quarantine efforts.

When I look at the map of Muldraugh, KY, the RL one, I don't see how this area would be susceptible to a forcefully administered virus. Fort Knox, just a stone's throw south, is a tank base and home to an intelligence facility. Next to that is Godman Army Air Field, home to AH-64 and UH-60 helicopters. In fact, some areas of Muldraugh can visibly see the fence line of Fort Knox. Many personnel that work on the Army bases there live in Muldraugh.

Could this be some weird Army experiment? At one of America's key tank bases and so called National Gold Reserve? Not likely. The closest major CDC facility is in Louisville.

No one would ever say ''help, zombies are attacking!'' - they'd say ''help! my house is being attacked by a gang!'' but I do understand your point. An officer or two arriving wouldn't have much chance. Also, do the zombies in this game actually require a headshot? The shotgun wouldn't have such an amazing spread-effect if they did, surely. If they don't require a headshot, the army could deal with it.

Also, military procedure would put an area where everybody turns into a crazed psycho intent on biting people into quarantine immediately, with maximum security. No dead bodies would be sent out of the area.

And now instead of a zombie issue you've got the rest of the world scared shitless and at the verge of launching their nukes, the huge political fallout from other countries due to nuking your OWN people and just to top it off 90% of your own country is going to hate you for nuking YOUR OWN people.

Because believe it or not if you told them you nuked them because they were zombies they'd probably respond with the same response you'd get for telling them that pigs can fly.

The idea that you can contain a virus with a high infection rate is very naive.

Also you forget to mention that an atomic attack leaves a shitload of residual radiation which surviving zombies are now walking through which will lead to radioactive zombies walking around causing even more harm.
No far more safe and sensible would be to use fuel air bombs and napalm.

Also a lot of virii burn themselves out due to high infection rates. They infect people who get sick and most peoples normal response to getting sick is to either go to hospital (which are trained to deal with infectious people) or go to bed. Either way leads to people not really interacting with one another and the infection can (and does) end because at the most infectious stage the victim is in bed with hot soup and tissues avoiding people.


As I have stated 3 times before the ONLY way the (any) military would lose is if a significant percentage of the population (above 50%) turned very suddenly (over the course of a week) during a time of political turmoil (oil/financial crisis). Man is too efficient a killer to lose to zombie unless the odds are stacked hugely in the zombies favour.

Yet the CDC manages it just fine. For a zombie outbreak, though you wouldn't even need the CDC. It would guaranteed stay at one victim unless he turns with someone next to him, and if that is the case it would be two victims.

A bite or scratch from a slow moving aggressive creature is nothing compared to an airborne virus, and those only claim about 10-50 people before being taken care of.

No it wouldn't though, how long is the incubation period for the Zed virus - around 3 days in project ZB. In the first week I highly doubt the thing would be diagnosed or known - the media would treat it as a form of human rabies for example. The CDC wouldn't know what they had and doubt they would've got a handle on the situation before then.

The fact the virus is spread through bites means it's a water bearing virus, it can be spread via water supply and even coughs/sneezes if you're close enough.

So ask yourself another question - how many people pass through Knox county on a daily basis - the answer - THOUSANDS meaning quarantine would be impossible.

The virus would have spread nationally and perhaps even globally within hours of patient zero showing symptoms of the virus.

Why would the military lose?

Because if they won there would be no game.

Worse.

There'd be no mystery for us to not-solve!
