Too ambitious, wont ever make it. I dont trust them. Plus it take way more than 6 months for an indi studio to make any decent game. Waaaaaaaay too ambitiours, the devs are quite naive. They should have spent more time developing a better/working prototype. All I see are promises that are impossible to achieve as the amount of work is way too big.

No game deserves money until there is some sort of gameplay shown, even if it's just a character taking a few steps. Until then they deserve nothing. Maybe if they push something out before their kickstarter runs out I could throw in some cash but that seems unlikely.

I understand that argument. But it's not as if they have only just begun working on the project. But I agree that a few gameplay videos would definitely help their cause.




I'm guessing most of the people who come onto these forums aren't hanging out in the Indie Scene forum. They are looking for the new PZ update in the announcements section or are in General PZ. So if I can make a few more people aware of the game then I don't care if someone posted a Dead Linger thread somewhere else.




I do absolutely disagree with this though. I'm sure you've all purchased games that have made you think "Damn, I can't believe I just spent $60 on that garbage".
I am willing to take a chance on a game I know is probably overly ambitious if it means that more games like these get made.

Wouldn't that just make for a lazy developer that would just shovel out more terrible games? I'm not saying it's bad to be ambitious in games developing. But they have to show they can deliver the goods. Or have a solid road map to achieving their goals.

This is exactly the problem I have with kickstarter.
People sell an idea for a game, not an actual game.

These people have simply made some models, concept art and some ideas, and they want people to pay them 60,000 dollars? How about a proof of concept, or a test version instead of just some shitty concept art and impossible goals?

This project will probably fail. It's simply to ambitious and difficult. Anyone who backs this deserves to get fucked when the devs fail to reach their incredibly over ambitious goals.

But just saying "It can't be any worse than 'X' game" is part of the problem. These developers haven't really shown anything past some artwork. I see no engine, No real direction. If they "Have the talent" they claim they have. They would have a working tech demo to draw people in. As it is the trailer mostly relies on being over-dramatic as it shows you some concept sketches. When what you might end up with could end up looking nothing like what you thought you were paying for.

If they showed some actual goods gameplaywise I might be less skeptical. But they haven't and its not like they're Brian Fargo and company. Who have proven they're capable of delivering great games given the right backing. I feel these developers are asking a bit much when they have a lot to prove of themselves.

Problem is some people with bad intention will use kickstarter to make a quick buck while never delivering what they promised.

Their plan is crap, they have a few basic models and very ambitious goals. Perfect recepie to steal from people, if they are aware of it or not its quite obvious a lot of people will lose their money. Kick starter is no a guaranty that your money will indeed produce a game, people need to be careful with that.

60 000$ then what? Ask for more? They can't deliver that game in 6 months starting from scrach, impossibru. Their inexperience show through their models and artworks. Their goals would be feasible for a studio of 200 peoples, not 3 dude in their basement.

Zomboid started with the basics, then they made it grow. They started with resonables goals and move one step at a time. They use a technologie relatively easy to mold into a real project.

Its sad for them and the people who wanted to help really.

With the vast number of zombie games we've all seen come to a permanent halt in development, it seems extremely naive to donate to one that hasn't even showcased any gameplay yet.

FZ is a great little game if you can look past the shonky graphics and daft zombie types like the American footballer.

What other game lets you build up a proper barricaded area, scavenge outside alone or with NPCs for food, guns and supplies and then have a mad showdown at the end? Not many that I can think of.

I would love for someone to make a huge, open world survival game concentrating on the building a safe compound and getting a group together. None of this unlimited ammo stuff you get in 90% of most shooters, surviving in a barricaded area you made and foraging for any supplies would be my perfect game. *sigh*

PS I just got an email from that Kickstarter telling me 2 people have each donated $1000+ dollars to the game.

I'm not really liking the direction Zomboid is going in so I am keeping an eye on this.

I am honestly curious ... what initially made you interested in the game and what has changed to make you not like the new direction?

Curious what you mean by this since the direction the game has been going in has been pretty steadfast and consistent since the day we first announced the game.
