Hey all! A few points:

NOT SAVE COMPATIBLE WITH Q.

We're releasing this now instead of waiting purely because people have waited enough. Truth be told we could hold back another week for fixing stuff but you've all had enough of that, so we'll throw it on here to give you your fix.

1) Still a couple of things in R not in this build, primarily the wheelie bin between cells and stopping 'lost in the woods syndrome' but they will be relatively quick to add so bear with any 'lies' on the R changelist for a day or two while we clean up any loose ends.
2) This first version is PC only until we can figure out the build scripts for the linux/mac versions which will be within the next day I'm sure. After this point they will always be simultaneous.
3) As stated in another thread, this version does not have music. Sadly the music skipping issue became 1000x worse since the optimizations, and could barely get through the first ten seconds of a track. We'll fix this when we figure out a solution. In the meantime why not make a playlist of the tracks?
4) The new blood system had to be removed until it can be optimized memory / speed wise.
5) Be gentle. The game's engines have undergone a massive massive rewrite and hopefully the benefits will be obvious. Optimizations are bastards for causing bugs, and this has undergone some massive changes in the name of optimization. We may have new bugs to quash or a few teething problems on certain graphic cards.

It may also be in need of some balancing still, think butter knives and pen/pencils are too too hard to use.

And found a model bug i guess. You cant see the plank when you hold it as a weapon.

Been playing for 10 minutes or so. The new animation system is fantastic (although the smoothness does take a minute to get used to after getting acclimated to the old animations).

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

Reloading is awkward, I miss the old-new combat system system (Circles of death )... but the animations are awesome.

There doesn't seem to be a resolution option for 1366x768, that wondrously weird resolution my laptop seems to have.

Reloading's not actually that awkward, hold R until you've got the number of clips you want and let go, press it again to insert the clip. We ended up simplifying it over the reload system in Stormy's mod, at least for now, since it might be confusing for newer players if we don't have a tutorial for it.

Hi -- been lurking for the past few weeks and enjoying your game, this is my first post-- I dont see the update up on Desura, and when I downloaded the .rar from your link, i can't figure for the life of me how to make the game launch from the .rar link

Forgive my computer illiteracy, very excited to play this build! Thanks for all of the amazing work yall have been putting into this great game

Dont try to barricate, you will get a loop of sound of someone barricading and you will attract zombies even when you arent doing it.
Overall is very good, love the new models.

Now, the holding R was what I didn't know, I just pressed it and had to put in all 10 bullets one at a time

Just so I'm clear, were still on the old system, not the experimental combat build?

So when can we expect to download and play this version over Desura?

The update's not up on Desura yet as these are unofficial builds (ie, still buggy) When the update is officially out, Desura will be updated. To run the game from the downloadable version, unzip the .rar and run the .bat

We'll get an installer up here ASAP

sanuske - no it's still the new combat build, just there isn't the circles on-screen at the mo they weren't compatible with the new sprite system at the moment so we need to come up with a new UI for it that works.
